A brief report on Coronavirus (Covid-19) Response Representative of Nineveh Voluntary Organization for IDPs (RNVDO) APRIL-2020
RNVDO database: Staff continuously update the site resident database through immediate registration of IDPs upon camp arrival. In the registration, there is an identification of persons with specific needs along with their gender and age breakdown. These statistics have been periodically shared with the CCCM Cluster and relevant partners. Issuing departure letters for all families that left the camp on their requests.Ongoing tent monitoring activities
Meeting with sector representatives to discuss all the things related to the camp and the current situation concerning coronavirus and requested their support to keep the camp as much as possible safe from the COVID -19. Camp committee met on monthly base to set up plan for awareness campaign and find the gaps in the camps. The camp committee conducted awareness campaign about coronavirus. Youth committee participated in sterilizing the camp to avoid the coronavirus. Youth committee and camp management team supported the vulnerable families during the rainy days when the camp get flood.
Training for all the CCCM and other NGOs staff and camp committees on coronavirus and how to prevent infection and conduct awareness campaign.
COMOUUNICATION WITH COMMUNITY
RNVVDO Jad’ah Camp Management started awareness campaign conecerning COIVD -19 in Jad’ah camps through awareness sesion and tent to tant comunication.
CAMP FOGGING AND STERILLIZATION
RNVDO Jad’ah camp management in coordination with DOH Nineveh and civil department started camp sterilization for all vital facilities in the camps such as the camp management office, public places including PHCs etc, IDPs tents and the surrounding areas, as a preventive measure too.
CCCM meeting with all Jad’ah
Camp service providers to discuss all the issues related to services in the camp and identify gaps.
Meeting with all health partners in Jad’ah camps to start awareness campaign for coronavirus
Meeting with camp committees (women, youth, and sector representative committees) to start awareness campaign concerning coronavirus.
In line with recent Corona Virus Crisis across the world, RNVDO also took its responsibilities as a humanitarian organization especially in Jad’ah camps. As a preventive measures to reduce the spread of COVID -19, Jad’ah camp management hold a meeting with all Jad’ah camps health partners and DoH Nineveh, the meeting focused on awareness campaign regarding COVID – 19.
Training for Staff and Community:
Jad’ah camp management with the support of health partners conducted training for all CCCM staff working in Jad’ah camps on coronavirus, also the camp management requested health partner to train all the camp committees and sector representative on the same topic as they can also actively participate in combating COVID-19 issue.
Jad’ah camp management in coordination with DoH Nineveh and the Civil Defense Department started camp sterilization for all vital facilities in the camps such as the camp management office, public places including PHCs etc, IDPs tents and the surrounding areas, as a preventive measure to reduce the spread of COVID- 19.
Considering the current situation in the country due to the outbreak of virus COVID 19, RNVDO being a CCCM agency in Jad’ah camp, has started monitoring role by checking all the items in the market in terms of their expiry date, prices and quality as the IDPs should not get affected from the current situation.
Qayyarah Crises Cell
RNVDO Jad’ah camp management didn’t concentrate its focus only on Jad’ah camp but it also became a part of Qayyarah Crisis Cell which chaired by Qayyarah Mayor, it took very important role in this cell through its representative Mr. Mohammed Idrees. Jad’ah camp management co -chair and hosted Qayyarah crises cell meeting in Jad’ah 1 camp management office.
Jad’ah camp management followed up all the action points and the recommendation of the crises cell meetings, as follow:
Camp Management in coordination with DoH constructed an isolation area in the camp to be as a quarantine for the suspected cases of coronavirus, and then to be moved to Mosul.
Restriction of movement
RNVDO Jad’ah camp management imposed the curfew in Jad’ah camp in line with curfew in Mosul and Qayyara areas, so no one from outside the camp can enter and the IDP were unable to leave the camp except for emergency.
Jad’ah camp management discussed with the local authority the camp fence issues and the camp management requested the crises cell to advocate for the fence maintenance.
Equipment has been provided to the camp gate to check all staff of the service providers and others when they enter the camp.
RNVDO’s contribution in Fumigation and sterilization in Mosul neighborhood
In the response of Coronavirus (Covid-19), RNVDO launched fumigation and sterilization campaigns in Nineveh Governorate, in cooperation with several voluntary groups in Mosul. RNVDO provided the voluntary teams with water trucks, sterile materials, pesticide sprayers and all kinds of special clothing, gloves, and masks. Each one of these voluntary group was led by one of RNVDO staff.
The sterilization campaigns for Coronavirus (Covid-19) included most of the security check points and the military regiments points in Al- Bareed, Al- Masarif and Alzohoor neighborhoods and Al-Khansaa Hospital, the campaign include also various neighborhoods of Nineveh Governorate, such as Al- Nabi Yunus, Al-Sukkar and some of the houses in the Old City.
The sterilization campaign was attended by many government prominent figures of Nineveh Governorate, including Mr. Najm Al-Jabouri-Nineveh Governor, Mr. Sirwan Al Rozhbyani- Deputy Governor, Dr. Falah Al-Taie, Director of Nineveh Health, and Mr. Ali Omar, the Head of Nineveh JCMC.
The activity also included distributing masks and sterilizers to citizens and state departments.
This activity is one of the RNVDO’s own initiative to limit the spread of Coronavirus COVID 19 in the Nineveh Governorate.
RNVDO’s contribution in Fumigation and sterilization in Salah Al-Deen Governorate
RNVDO launched fumigation and sterilization campaign in eastern side of Salah Al-Deen Governorate, Shirqat district, in cooperation with several local voluntary groups.
RNVDO provided the voluntary teams with water trucks, sterile materials, pesticide sprayers and all kinds of special clothing, gloves, and masks. Each one of these voluntary group was led by one of RNVDO staff. This sterilization campaign for Coronavirus (Covid-19) included oil station and 200 plus shops in the market and some villages around Shirqat district. It is estimated that approximately 1000 families have been benefited from this campaign.
RNVDO’s contribution in Food Parcel distribution in Erbil Governorate
Considering the severity of lockdown which pushed back the daily wagers. From today (3rd April, 2020) RNVDO started providing a food basket (this food basked is enough for a family of five members at least for 20 days) to more than 100 families in the suburbs including Qatwi, Mam Zawa and Bahra of Erbil Governorate. RNVDO has provided this assistance through its own resources and aiming to reach more numbers in coming days.
